영국의 수학자 튜링(Alan Turing, 1912-1954)는 1950년에 Mind라는 학술지에 “Computing Machinery and Intelligence"라는 제목의 논문을 실었다. 이 논문의 1장 “모방게임(The Imitation Game)”은 다음과 같이 시작한다.
